I'm pretty excited about this coming weekend. I took a screen shot of this vid clip to demonstrate the adventure that Moto beholds. Front and center is an actual Chicago hot dog. I'm pretty sure it's just there for demonstration purposes. Unrelated to the hot dog, on the left is a chorizo taco with the dessert chorizo taco next to it on the other side of the plate. On the right is the Chicago hot dog chips and salsa. The popcorn behind it? Chicago hot dog-flavored. And of course, the aforementioned Chicago hot dog dessert in the back.

- New Yorkers may consume more hot dogs than other Americans, but ballpark goers will eat enough at major league ballparks this year to stretch to and from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia and Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., the two sites of the 2008 World Series.
- But what exactly is a hot dog? References to sausage go back as far as Homer, and it is likely that the frankfurter was the grandfather of the eventual “weiner” dog (possibly named after Vienna – Wein – Austria from whence it came). However, others suggest that the term might have come from “dachshund sausage,” “dog wagons,” (that delivered the fares to college students) or even from street vendors hawking them from portable hot water tanks.
- In any case, the hot dog as we know it first appeared in ballparks 1893, and they have remained popular ever since. Humphrey Bogart once said, “A hot dog at the ballpark is better than a steak at the Ritz.”
- Pre-Kobayshi, the record for hot dogs consumed in 12 minutes was 25. Kobayshi – at the time, 23 years old and weighing in at 131 pounds – consumed 50 hot dogs in the same amount of time.

Field Trip to Hot Doug's Coming Up
As an intermittent hot dog blogger, I have failed to provide any feedback regarding the eating of real hot dogs. This will soon change. Next weekend promises to be a day of epic gastronomical proportions, as I will be dining at both Hot Doug's and Moto. The hot dog-related focus will obviously come from Hot Doug's, but Moto has also been known to serve a dish that tastes like a hot dog but looks like something else very unrelated, or serve this for dessert:
It's strawberry sorbet topped with various gelees and lemon curd "mustard" encased in a buttery cake bun. Pictures will also accompany this future post. Stay tuned.
